Sustainability, recycling programs and education. We harvest 20,000 litres of water at our Camp Flat Road Centre. We use a 10kw solar system to power each of our Centre’s. Our cleaning products and consumables are from an Australian owned company, eco-friendly and sourced locally. We purchase recycled books and toys from our local community groups and fairs. We teach children to look after and care for their natural environment, use recycling bins and stations, use tank water where possible, clothes lines for drying, limit use of tap water when washing hands and grow and use herbs and vegetables for cooking experiences.
Collect AA batteries for recycling. Collect bread tags for the manufacture of wheelchairs for disadvantaged people in South Africa. Use lots of loose parts and natural resources for children’s play and learning. Recycle paper where possible and make use of digital technology to connect to parents in real time so they can see an activity their child is engaging in.
Creating healthy habits throughout the Centre making it a natural and normal part of everyday living. Our Educators teach and role model healthy and wise choices about getting regular fresh air, exercise, sunshine, mindfulness, making healthy food choices and drinking plenty of clean fresh water throughout the day.
We advocate the ‘Healthy Eating Pyramid’ by Nutrition Australia. Our meals are balanced, nutritious and cater to a child’s allergy and dietary requirements. The meals are prepared on site by our cook using locally sourced seasonal ingredients.
Foster a love of growing a garden and pot plants by regularly planting, nurturing, growing, cultivating, and harvesting herbs, vegetables, and bush tucker. The children also learn about preparing, tasting, cooking, and eating the produce.
A compost tumbler barrel used to recycle food scraps and organic materials and is used to improve soil fertility in our gardens and landscaping. Further benefits are that compost prevents soil erosion, conserves water, and promotes healthier plant growth.
Each of our rooms keep suitable organic food scraps to recycle and feed our worms who in turn provide nutrient rich organic matter to put on our gardens and landscaping, the perfect fertiliser!
A ‘bee hotel’ to encourage native solitary stingless bees and a supporting educational program to teach children about the diversity of nature and the behaviour of insects. Children can learn about the life cycle of bees and how important they are in helping to pollinate our flowers and crops.
With the decline of frog habitat due to urbanisation and land clearing frogs need our help. So, we encourage frogs to visit our gardens by providing them with a recycled, safe space to live in. We love our frogs & their croaky little chorus!
We believe in gaining a greater understanding, respect and pride for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures being one of the oldest living cultures in the world. Our program is embedded with the traditions, customs, and culture of the Gubbi Gubbi people. It is our hope that an enriched appreciation of Australia’s cultural heritage will lead to reconciliation, maturity of Australia as a nation and essential to the development of an Australian identity.
A weekly visit from a friendly coach who knows how to entertain and engage young children with a variety of fun games that will improve their skills, self-confidence and help them learn about teamwork.
Our Kindy children are regularly seen out and about in their safety vests throughout the Parklakes Estate following the many footpaths, trails, and boardwalks as they explore and learn about their local environment, often taking a ‘pit stop’ to picnic and play in the local park and playground.
Our Centre’s welcome an exciting and diverse number of multi-cultural shows, performers, and entertainers each year as they share their musical talents, knowledge, and stories to teach the children about the ocean, different countries, festivals from around the world, diversity, our First People, the animal kingdom, music, health, wellbeing, the environment, sustainability, recycling, disability and more!
Our Parklakes Drive Centre backs onto a serene lake, home to ducks, water dragons and other wildlife. The Perren Family Park located next door provides an additional playscape for our Ant Hill and Dragonfly children to explore on the numerous excursions they have throughout the year.
Our elevated Camp Flat Road Centre overlooks bushland reserves with views stretching out to Mount Coolum and Mount Ninderry. The centrepiece of our magnificent playscape features 2 large, old paperbark trees which are now incorporated in our forts allowing children to interact with a resident kookaburra and other birdlife that visit each morning and afternoon.
All our indoor play spaces are air conditioned so that your child can learn, play, and rest in comfort. Our senior rooms feature dedicated art studios and cooking demonstration areas for hands-on exploration and experimentation. All our rooms are very well resourced, ventilated and much larger than the regulation size. We use lots of natural resources such as real clay and kinetic sand for stimulating sensory experiences. We view our environment as the ‘third teacher’, as a key element in inspiring imagination and exploration. Our oversized natural playgrounds have sandpits, mud kitchen, cubby houses, yarning circle, forts, Indian teepee, celebration poles, bike track with speed bumps and traffic signs, dinosaur park, water park and much more!
